Investing 25.5 Billion, A Cross-border Lithium Battery Rookie Builds A Battery Factory!
On November 15, TCC announced that its subsidiary Nengyuan Technology Molicel plans to invest NT$25.5 billion (approximately RMB 5.8 billion) to build a high-performance ternary lithium battery cell factory in Vancouver, Canada.
The battery factory is expected to start construction in 2024 and start production in 2028, with a production capacity of 2.8 GWh and an annual production of 135 million cylindrical ternary lithium batteries.
After completion, the factory will become Canada's largest ternary battery cell factory and the world's first low-carbon, high-power battery cell factory that uses 100% green electricity.

Neng Yuan Technology is an important carrier of TCC's lithium battery business. It initially produced consumer lithium batteries. After acquiring the Canadian lithium battery factory of NEC Group in 2000, it officially began its layout in the power battery field.
In April 2021, TCC said it would invest no more than NT$10 billion to build a super battery factory in Kaohsiung with a planned production capacity of 1.8 GW.
In July 2022, Nengyuan Technology announced that it would become the battery supplier for the VX4 five-seater tilt-rotor eVTOL developed by eVTOL start-up Vertical Aerospace.
In the same month, Nengyuan Technology’s British electric vehicle company McMurtry officially signed a lithium battery strategic technology partnership agreement.
In November 2022, Nengyuan Technology and American airline Archer Aviation jointly announced that they would provide 21700 lithium ternary high-nickel batteries for Archer's eVTOL Midnight.
