On November 10, 2023, the China Electricity Council released the "Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Station Industry Statistics for the First Half of 2023". Statistics show that in the first half of 2023, 227 electrochemical energy storage power stations were newly put into operation, with a total power of 7.41GW and a total energy of 14.71GWh, exceeding the total installed capacity in the previous years.

As of the end of June 2023, 19 corporate member units of the National Electric Power Safety Commission have submitted a total of 1,024 electrochemical energy storage power stations of various types above 500kW/500kWh, with a total power of 27.22GW and a total energy of 59.26GWh, of which a total of 699 power stations have been put into operation. The total power is 14.30GW and the total energy is 28.77GWh, a year-on-year increase of nearly 3 times.

 

Statistics indicate that in the first half of the year, 604 were in operation, with a total power of 13.76GW and a total energy of 27.64GWh, and 95 were decommissioned, with a total power of 0.54GW and a total energy of 1.13GWh. The main reasons for deactivation were fire rectification and safety hazard rectification.

 

As of the end of June 2023, the top three provinces in the cumulative operation scale are Shandong, Ningxia, and Inner Mongolia;

 

The top ten provinces with the largest newly put into operation are Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shandong, Hunan, Gansu, Anhui, Guangxi, Guangdong, Tibet, and Hubei.

 

As of the end of June 2023, the three major power grids have put into operation a total power of 0.98GW/1.85GWh, the five major power generation groups have put into operation a total power of 4.35GW/8.18GWh, and other units have put into operation a total power of 8.96GW/18.73GWh.

 

Statistics show that in the first half of 2023, China's electrochemical energy storage power stations completed a complete charge and discharge on average every 1.7 days, that is, the average number of full charges and discharges per day was 0.58 times.

 

The average daily operating hours are 4.17h, the operating hours in the first half of the year are 679.68h, and the average operating coefficient is 0.17 (number of operating hours during the statistical period/number of hours during the statistical period)

 

The average daily utilization hours are 2.16h, the utilization hours in the first half of the year are 346.12h, and the average utilization coefficient is 0.09 (the number of operating hours when the actual transmitted power (including charging and discharging) is converted into rated power during the statistical period/the number of hours during the statistical period)

The average operation coefficient of new energy distribution and storage is 0.09 (average daily operation hours 2.05 hours), the average utilization coefficient is 0.06, the average utilization index is 0.27, reaching 27% of the average design utilization hours of the power station, the average equivalent number of charges and discharges is 46 times, and the average daily The equivalent number of charges and discharges is 0.31 times, which is equivalent to completing a complete charge and discharge every 3.3 days.

 

At the same time, it was also pointed out that the user side is dominated by industrial and commercial energy storage, with the total power in operation being approximately 0.36GW, accounting for 66.91%, and the total energy being approximately 1.18GWh, accounting for 58.18%; all new installed capacity in the first half of 2023 will be industrial and commercial configurations Energy storage. At present, industrial and commercial distribution and storage are mainly distributed in major industrial and commercial provinces such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Guangdong.

The average operating coefficient of user-side energy storage is 0.42 (average daily operating hours: 10.14 hours), the average utilization coefficient is 0.19, the average utilization index is 0.49, reaching 49% of the average design utilization hours of the power station, the average equivalent number of charges and discharges is 133 times, and the average daily The equivalent number of charges and discharges is 0.82 times, which is equivalent to completing a complete charge and discharge every 1.2 days.
