What is the reason for the rise in diesel generator oil level?
During normal use of a diesel generator, the engine oil will be consumed and gradually reduced. The oil level in the oil pan will gradually decrease, and the engine oil needs to be replenished regularly. If the oil level in the oil pan of the diesel generator rises instead of falling, it means that the diesel generator has failed foreign liquid has invaded the oil pan, and the amount of intrusion is greater than the consumption. These foreign liquids may be water, diesel, or hydraulic oil. They will destroy the properties of the oil, reduce the lubrication effect, and cause mechanical accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the rising oil level in the diesel generator oil pan, find out the cause of the fault, and eliminate the fault in time.
Reasons for the oil level in the oil pan to rise
1: Cooling water leaks into the oil pan
① The engine has been overheated for a long time, and the water-blocking ring of the cylinder liner has leaked and aged, losing its sealing effect; when pumping the piston during maintenance, the carbon deposit on the upper part of the cylinder liner was not scraped off first, but the piston was pushed hard and moved with the cylinder liner, causing water blocking. The moving sealing performance of the ring is damaged and water leaks.
② If the diesel engine is overloaded for a long time when the thermal load and mechanical load exceed the allowable strength of the cylinder liner, the cylinder liner will crack. When assembling the diesel engine, improper methods will produce large assembly stress, or hammering will also cause cracks in the cylinder liner.
③ If the cylinder is overheated, the cylinder surface is uneven or the cylinder head is warped and deformed, and the high-temperature gas rushes out, it will burn the cylinder gasket and cause damage to the water channel seal.
④The casting quality in the body or cylinder head is poor, leaving defects such as blisters and bubbles, allowing cooling water to enter the oil pan through the lubricating oil circuit. If cast sand holes are in the inner body of the tappet chamber, the cooling water in the water jacket will seep out from the sand holes and flow into the oil pan through the oil return hole in the tappet chamber, making it difficult to find outside.
⑤ The bulkheads of the water passage holes on the cylinder block and cylinder head are loose or cracked, and the cooling water leaks and flows into the oil pan along the valve push rod holes. If the screw plug of the process hole of the lubricating oil line leading to the rocker arm on the diesel engine cylinder head is loose, the cooling water will flow into the oil pan along the oil channel here.
⑥ Improper installation of the cylinder liner. If the assembly dimensions do not meet the requirements, the cylinder liner is prone to cracks, the cylinder head gasket cannot be sealed, and cooling water will flow into the oil pan.
⑦ When the generator set is used in the open air, the exhaust pipe opening is not closed with a plastic film, allowing rainwater to pass through the exhaust pipe, pass through the exhaust valve in the open position, enter the cylinder, and flow into the oil pan.
2: Diesel leaks into the oil pan
① The injector needle valve of some cylinders is stuck or the injection pressure is too low. A large amount of diesel fuel is injected into the cylinder without atomization, cannot be completely burned, and flows into the oil pan along the cylinder wall in a liquid state.
② Due to the excessive clearance between the cylinder liner, piston, and piston ring of a certain cylinder, or the tight fit between the sealing end face of the injector of some cylinders and the cylinder head, the gas compression pressure in the cylinder is insufficient. The diesel fuel injected into the cylinder cannot be fully It burns and flows into the oil pan along the cylinder wall.
③ Due to reasons such as bending of the push rod or cracking of the push rod ball socket, the intake valve or exhaust valve cannot be opened, and there is no fresh air in the cylinder. The diesel fuel continuously injected into the cylinder when the diesel engine is working cannot form a flammable mixture, so it cannot burn. , flows into the oil pan.
④ Diesel leaking from the glow plug enters the combustion chamber from the intake pipe. Too much diesel accumulates in the cylinder, causing part of the unburned diesel to escape into the oil pan through the gap between the piston and the cylinder liner. When starting up, the glow plug The valve core is stuck and cannot return, and a large amount of diesel will flow into the intake pipe from the preheat plug through the opened valve core. When the intake valve opens, it leaks into the cylinder through the intake valve and flows into the oil pan.
3: Bubbles are produced in the oil in the oil pan.
When the diesel engine vent or breather is clogged, the gas in the crankcase cannot be discharged, causing a large number of bubbles to be generated in the oil in the oil pan, which will also cause the oil level to increase.
